Christmas Cookies

On Tuesday Alison and I decided that we would make sugar cookies. So I went out to her house and we did just that. Ada helped us. She had lots of fun, until we asked for the rolling pin back and she refused. The cookies were delicious. Way to go Al on another AMAZING recipe.

Ada was such a good helper. She did keep sneaking dough when we weren't looking.

The cookies. I only have NEON food coloring, So that is why the cookies are pink not red.

Thanks Al for a great day.

Gingerbread houses

Last night we had our annual Gingerbread house night at the Squire's. It is such a fun tradition that I look forward to every year. It is fun to see all the kids make their houses. It was especially fun to see Reese eat every piece of candy her mom would put on her house. Here are our houses.

Jordan's house is "Post Nuclear Attack" house complete with an overturned car and green snowmen-people. I like my pond and of course, no Squire gingerbread house is complete unless it has a few root beer kegs outside.

The whole family. It is always a good time when we all get together :)
Me and the boy. ( Thanks Alysia for sending the pictures)

A new found talent......I hope.....

Since I have some free time I decided that I should make good use of it. My mom has these amazing stockings that she made for the family. So I decided that I would make a stocking for Jordan and one for me so we could have this as a tradition in our family. I went earlier in the season to buy the kit but it was $20.00. I could not spend that much on a project that I was not even sure I could do. So on Thursday I stopped by the craft store again and all the Christmas stuff was 60% off, so I got 2 stocking kits for $17.00. I feel better about that. So I took them with me over to the Squire's house and showed Alysia, Nancy and Alison. After showing them what i was planning and getting all the pieces out we all decided that I was crazy and this was a task I could not accomplish. But I decided, what the hay, I have nothing better to do (you can only watch so many movies, right?). So i started on the stocking that I thought looked easier. To my surprise over the past few days I have been able to accomplish a lot. The instructions are so easy and although it is a very time consuming project (because it is all done by hand) it is lots of fun. So I will try and keep up today pictures on how it is coming. I know that I for sure won't get them both done by Christmas. So I am just shooting for at least Jordan's to be done and I will have mine done by next year. Let me know what ya think :)
Here is what it will look like when I am done.
So the kit came with big pieces of felt and each piece is numbered . So you cute out the pieces and sew them on when the instructions say.

Jordan Took this last night. I had just finished Santa's body.

This is just a close up. You have to sew each sequin on too. Time consuming .........

This is the progress I made this morning. -Don't be fooled though I have to sew on the sequins before I can attach his head.

This project has turned out to be a lot more fun then I thought It would be. It also a good way to spend my extra time :)

Mo-Tab Christmas Concert

On Friday we had the opportunity to attend the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert. I was especially excited because I was not able to go but my plans changed and I was able to go with Jordan and his parents. It was a great night. we ate at Crown burger and it was delicious. We then went to the concert. We were on the front row of the balcony.
The guests that the choir had were Brian Stokes Mitchell and Edward Herrmann. Mitchell had an AMAZING voice!!! He had such a fun personality also. He sang this song about animals and the choir made the animal noises. It was so fun. My favorite part was when they sang a song from the movie "Prince of Egypt". Mitchell was the singing voice of Jethro in the movie so he sang the song with the choir. It is one of my favorite songs (ask Jordan he'll tell you) it totally made my day!!! The whole concert was amazing. It put me in the Christmas mood. It has been a crazy, not very fun week and it was so nice to hear the choir and feel so at peace. It was also so nice to spend some time with Jordan. He has been super busy with studying for finals and work. Thanks Kim and Nancy for taking us. It was so much fun. I am so glad that I was able to go.

Us at the concert :)
