Happy Birthday Jordan

Jordan is AWESOME!!!! He deserves the best birthday EVER!!! Well lucky for him we got to spend his birthday at the hospital with Talmage. I made a few cute little videos of the kids that we watched on Friday before the girls went to school and we headed to the hospital. I tried to make the girls videos separate, but Avery was hiding in the hall listening to ALL of Brynlee’s answers. Next time I will make them during quiet time :) Here they are…..

The kids were very sad, but I promised we could do every thing they planned on Sat. So we made breakfast. Dad requested a breakfast sandwich- his favorite :)

Then it was present time. The girls wanted to give dad a “clue book” It had pictures in it-or clues that he had to follow to find his gifts.

The first picture in the clue book was of Brynlee. She surprised Dad with some bacon. When I asked her what Dad wanted for his birthday she said ‘oh he loves bacon, I want to get him that”  :)

Next was a picture of Avery. She gave daddy hostess apple pies. She calls them apple streusel bars and Brynlee calls them apple candy bars :)

“Mom he HAS to have 2” She is so funny.

Grant’s picture was next. He picked a candy bar for dad.

The girls picked valentine cakes for dad from Talmage. Talmage was sleeping. The girls couldn’t wait to give dad his treat :)

The next clue was to go to Javier’s for lunch. Mother takes the kids here and they LOVE it. We got nachos for lunch “With no crunchy cheese” as Brynlee says.

Talmage was recovering great so he spent his nap time with us.

The main reason they wanted to bring dad here is the dessert nachos. These 2 girls could eat that WHOLE plate if we let them.

After quiet time it was time for the next clue. A picture of the RUSH pool in Syracuse. We decided to keep Talmage home so I stayed with him and Jordan took the kids swimming.

My sweet friend Darci brought over dinner. Chicken noodle soup. Avery was adorable. “Mom how did Darci know I love soup” and  then “oh mom this soup is warming me right up it is perfect”

We got Jordan’s favorite for dessert. The Boston Cream Pie that is special order at Marie Calendars.

Jordan is the best, His birthday is my favorite day because he is my favorite person EVER. I love that I get to spoil him on his birthday.

You are the BEST Jord. Hope you had a great birthday. We love you :)

Talmage- Surgery

The day of Talmage’s surgery arrived. We were able to keep him healthy!! YAHOO. It was on Jordan’s birthday :) I can’t think of any better way to spend your birthday than at the hospital. They called the day before and gave me all the info. Talmage could eat milk until 8:45 am, he could then have pedialite until 10:45 am then he was to remain NPO. His check in time was 12:15 pm and his surgery was scheduled for 1:30 pm. I decided to wake him up at 5:15 am and feed him. He usually sleeps until about 7ish every day. I figured an extra feeding wouldn’t hurt. He ate great both his feedings, When we tried to give him some pedialite he did NOT like it :)

We took the girls to preschool and ran a few errands. Grant got dropped off at mothers and we headed up to the hospital.

We found the same day surgery and waited to check in.

He was such a happy boy.

All ready to head over to pre-op waiting :)

We got to pre op waiting at about 1:10ish. They said the doctor was a little behind so Talmage would probably go back about 2. He had fun playing with dad for a bit.

Then he fell fast asleep. He wasn’t upset at all that he hadn’t eaten since 8:45 :)

Dr. Smith - the ENT - came out and went over the procedure. They would put him under and then proceed to dilate his nose. I asked if they left anything in Talmage's nose and he said no. We take out everything we put in. Then Dr. Smith - the anesthesiologist - came out and talked to us next. He said he would put an IV in and then place a mask on his face with the gas to help him fall asleep. Next he would intubate him. He would be the one monitoring him through the procedure.  He then walked with us to the waiting room and I handed him my sleeping baby and he went back to the OR at about 2:00 pm.

I am SO grateful for the Spirit of peace and comfort I felt at that moment and the days leading up to the surgery. I know it wasn’t anything crazy – but it was crazy enough that he had to be intubated and put under general anesthesia. I knew that he would be fine and that this surgery would help him so much.

Jordan and I waited in the waiting room. I pumped and he read. They called us at 2:45 and said they were done and we could come back. Here we are waiting,

I am SO glad the told us ahead of time that he would be ANGRY!!!! because boy was he ANGRY!!!! They said he would be angry not because he was in pain but 1- he was STARVING 2- he was still walking up from the anesthesia and kind of disoriented and 3- he was in a strange place.

So the lines are the size of a normal persons nostrils… and that is Talmage’s nose. Yes that is my baby with his eyes taped closed and intubated…. :)

Well I would almost say he was LIVID!!!! He was so mad he wouldn’t even eat so they gave him a dose of fentanyl and a dose of Tylenol. FINALLY he calmed down enough to eat 3 oz.

After a burp and being able to take his leads off and bundle him a little more he took the last 2 oz. He did great!!!

We moved from one recovery room to another. He finally calmed down enough to fall asleep. His IV was in his little ankle. You can see the pulse ox on his toe

By 4:45 pm he was doing great and  his vitals were good. He had met all the requirements to head home YAHOO

We headed to mothers to get the kids. We got there a little before 6. Mother had made Navajo taco’s – one of Jordan’s favorites for his birthday dinner.

I am so grateful to have Primaries Children's SO close. I hope we never need it again but I am glad it is there. Thanks Mother for watching the other kiddos.

Brynlee LOVES her music class. She is doing the “Let’s play music” program. I go with her every other week and took a video :)

These boys are going to be best friends very soon :)

Helping folding the Laundry. That is the girls job now. They are getting to be great laundry folders. They even put it away also.

I was wearing my hat a lot before I got my hair cut so Grant was into hats for a day or 2. He looks way big in his hat.

Brynlee is READING!!!! They got a few books from the library and she read this book that is 30 pages with help from Jordan on the big words. She is doing great!!!

Grandma Great got Grant a train set :) we set it up and the kids loved it.

Cupcake time :) I had a few cupcakes left over from the Baptism Preview. I knew who exactly who could take them off my hands :)

Yes it is January and the kids are playing outside in Jackets!!!!  Crazy.

We played with cousins one day and Alysia was able to get some birthday errands ran for Reese's birthday :)  These kids love their cousins.

I think it should be called “Terrorizing Tummy Time” because as soon as Talmage is on the ground EVERYONE has to be up in his business.

The kids love the saucer more than Talmage does. They are doing great not playing with it when Talmage is in it.
